REECE’S PIECES - An evening of conversation
‘It started in lockdown as a challenge to myself. As an actor I had never felt comfortable speaking publicly unless I was playing a role, so I thought I’d face a few demons by attempting to talk live online to my twitter followers. What I discovered was, that when I got started… I couldn’t stop! Reaching the age of sixty, and having been round the block at least twice, I realised I might have a tale or two to tell.’

Gary Meikle - Surreal

After his meteoric rise through the ranks, Scottish Comedy Award winner and viral sensation Gary Meikle is back with his second tour show, Surreal! A word that perfectly describes Gary's last few years. He started 2019 performing in comedy clubs, and ended it selling out big theatres in the UK as well as tours in America, Canada and Europe!

Not one for mincing his words, Gary has been described as 'playfully dark'. His cheeky chappie nature and ability to get away with talking about anything will have you laughing at things you probably shouldn't be! As always, Gary will draw material from his own real-life experiences, including his unique family dynamic and his rapid rise to online fame. Quickly putting his audiences at ease, a night of stand up with Gary feels like a night in the pub chatting with friends!

Having performed to tens of thousands of people over the past year, Gary has found a new confidence and level of openness on stage, meaning he doesn't hold back on giving his opinions, no matter how warped! The new show will cover topics such as evolution, social media, how to deal with burglars, single mums, bee sex, small man syndrome and much more. Gary is a fast paced, punchy storyteller that finds the funny in anything!”

Neverland: Our Story in Pixels

Have your smart phones and tablets ready for a new, born digital dance performance experience that takes place in Neverland. Neverland is a metaphor for today's society and how it plays out online. Neverland: Our Story in Pixels, is loosely inspired by Social Media, Young People's stories of growing up online, digital rights, safeguarding, identity, citizenship and oddly the story of Peter Pan. This hybrid performance experience looks at our sense of reality, looking at reality both online and offline. Is what you see, what you get or are we all trying to live up to a distorted sense of reality? Neverland is a digital world shaped by the voices and imagination of Lauren Tucker and young people she has been engaging with since 2017. By bringing audiences together, we can co- create new memories and collectively share our experience online. Who are you and what do you want to say to the world? Lauren wants to ask young people, parents, teachers and anyone with an interest in developing young people for their futures- how can social media and digital technology be used as a force for good, and enable us to move towards the rainbow we have been chasing and dreaming of, a better society both online and offline. Are we prepared to have conversations with young people to enable positive social media use and to explore its creative potential? It's a serious subject matter, but this experience is not a dark one, it is fun, entertaining and designed with, by and for young people. It is a child friendly show. Recommended audience 9+

As an artist, Lauren aims to actively listen to young people, to advocate for equality, to raise awareness and educate on issues of global concern and social injustice by any media neccessary. Little Women

Writer-director Greta Gerwig has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life.

In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters – four young women each determined to live life on her own terms - is both timeless and timely. Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbour Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

Laid - A Tribute to James

On Saturday 19th May 2018 Mike Hadfield, lead singer, had a VIP ticket to the sound check prior to the James gig at King George’s Hall Blackburn. During the question and answer session Mike grabbed the microphone and asked the band their thoughts of him setting up a tribute band to honour their music. After deliberating as a band, Saul spoke for them saying “Go for it!” and Tim Booth gave his blessing. Mike set to work gathering the troops to create a band of fans for fans: Laid - a tribute to James.

Laid have hit the tribute scene with lightning pace, receiving high praise everywhere they play. Bookings all over the country have come in thick and fast and the band have marked their territory as the leading tribute to one of the best bands to come out of Manchester. Playing all the hits including “Sit Down”, “She’s a Star”, “Tomorrow”, “Come Home” and “Laid” they are destined for great things.

The Southmartins

"They're Really Good" - Paul Heaton

With an unrivalled, energetic, soulful and, at times, playful show, The Southmartins play the hits and bits of The Beautiful South and The Housemartins and have carved themselves a unique niche in the world of tribute acts.

With a voice as close as you could hope for to Paul Heaton plus a band of lively musicians and a healthy irreverence for the songs and arrangements, often taking the songs off in unexpected directions whilst staying true to the spirit of the original bands their gigs are becoming the thing of legend with mass singalongs and unpredictable occurrences a regular feature.
With a choice selection of bona fide British pop hits such as Happy Hour, Caravan of Love, Perfect 10, Good as Gold, You Keep It All In, Song For Whoever and many more their gigs promise to leave you with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

The band formed in late 2009 and have been playing across the UK ever since to increasingly large crowds who often follow them across their tours and travel great distances to catch them. From initial forays into pubs and clubs to dedicated music venues, festivals and having the distinction of being the first tribute to be invited to play at Paul Heaton's Salford venue, The Kings Arms, on the eve of Paul and Jacqui Abbott's "comeback" album 'What Have We Become' the band have acquired high praise indeed with Paul himself endorsing them on BBC Radio 2 saying "they're really good".

China Crisis

China Crisis were never your run-of-the-mill 80s pop band. Formed in Liverpool by singer Gary Daly and guitarist Eddie Lundon, they distilled their love of David Bowie and Steely Dan into an exquisitely melancholy post-punk sound that saw them win their just chart rewards. Has there ever been a more wistful Top 10 hit than the charming Wishful Thinking?

Their hero Walter Becker – of Steely Dan fame – was so impressed he even became a band member back in 1985, producing and playing on Top 10 album Flaunt the Imperfection, and returning for 1989’s hugely acclaimed Diary of a Hollow Horse. And, all the while, the hits kept rolling in… Christian, Black Man Ray and King in a Catholic Style all made their way into the UK Top 20

Sam Avery: Role Model

Sam needs to step up.

With two children looking to him for guidance, it’s high-time he evolved into the role model he always thought he’d be. But he didn’t sleep well last night and being a hero is harder than it looks. Plus, he forgot to put the bins out and now his wife hates him.

In this side-splitting new stand-up show, Sam explores what it means to be a role model in modern Britain, how the people he looked up to shaped his world, and how the struggle to help his kids find their moral compass often causes him to misplace his own.

Can you be a role model on four hours sleep?
Can you mentor someone who thinks you’re a moron?
And how do you change the world if you can’t even clean your kitchen?
