Three-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee and very-hard-to-pin-down-indie-underdog-nightmare Josie Long is back with a brand new show after a brief hiatus, during which she had a baby and so on.
How do you bring someone into a world that everyone keeps telling you is ending? This show is about the mind-bending intensity of new motherhood, but mostly about kindness, gentleness, and joy - all in all, the edgiest thing you will see this year. The aim is for you to come out of it feeling optimistic about the future, although that is a big ask. At the very least there will be some really silly voices in it, and that’s not nothing.
★★★★★ The Skinny “Riotously hilarious...a uniquely optimistic hour of comedy”
★★★★ The Times “Brilliantly evocative, an original and unflagging spirit.”
★★★★ The Guardian ““Full of love and defiant joy”
★★★★ The Scotsman “Her excitability is as infectious as always...explicitly personal and positive...an hour of near constant laughs”

17 dancers, 35 scenes, 100 characters…
Like passing-by miniature scenes through a train window, or cycling through the streets and peering into apartments, we all love to glimpse into other lives, and the homes they’re lived out in.
Rambert’s brilliant dancers invite us into wildly different worlds and surprising set-ups. People trying to live their lives, navigate dilemmas, swerve mishaps and survive their mini-dramas.
Rooms is a daftly ambitious dance-theatre-film that is performed live. It’s sometimes absurd it’s oftentimes funny. It’s beautiful and it’s peculiar, and occasionally a little bit sad. Or maybe it’s all perfectly normal.
…unlike most livestreams, this was not a static recording or a glitchy presentation over Zoom. Watching it felt more like watching a movie, immersive and absorbing, yet easily the most technically sophisticated live dance production I’ve seen since theaters closed

John O'Connell’s Simply Dylan Band will be back in 2021 for a brand-new headline tour across the UK to celebrate Bob Dylan’s 80th Birthday.
As straightforward as the title suggests: no frills, no gimmicks, no pretense; Simply Dylan is John’s personal exploration and celebration of the rich and diverse work of Bob Dylan.
O'Connell, formerly of Groundpig, has had his name indelibly written into the tapestry of Liverpool's music scene, has collaborated with other highly reputable musicians to form his Dylan Band.
The combination of the band delivering high energy renditions of the prodigious songwriter’s work and John skillfully singing and enunciating the lyrics,
has seen the project go from recognising Dylan's 70th Birthday, to selling out the Cavern Club 6 times, to receiving fantastic reviews from audiences across
the UK and most recently having the privilege to open up the Isle of Wight Festival in 2019 on the big top stage.
“It is incredible to consider that Dylan has been writing and performing for some 6 decades and continues to do so right up to the present day.
The talent he has for story-telling and developing a song is extraordinary. My greatest challenge is deciphering a set-list when there is so much choice and an array
of genres to select from; after all everyone has their own personal favourite!”

Roy Grace is back as the thrilling work of multi-million No.1 best-selling author Peter James comes to The Lowry with the world premiere stage production of Looking Good Dead.
No good deed goes unpunished…hours after picking up a USB memory stick, left behind on a train seat, to try to return it to its owner, Tom Bryce inadvertently becomes a witness to a vicious murder. Reporting the crime to the police has disastrous consequences, placing him and his family in grave danger. When Detective Superintendent Roy Grace becomes involved, he has his own demons to contend with, while he tries to crack the case in time to save the Bryce family’s lives.
From the producer of recent Lowry stage hits, Band of Gold and The Girl On The Train and adapted by award winning writer Shaun McKenna, Looking Good Dead will keep you on the edge of your seat until the chilling final moments!
Don't miss your chance to see the world premiere tour of Peter James' gripping new play.
RHYS JAMES: SNITCH
Mock The Week regular and star of his own BBC Radio 4 series, Rhys James heads out on his first national tour.
In early 2019, Rhys was asked to go back to his school and inspire the Year 11s. Given that teenagers are a nightmare and there was no fee, he ghosted the teacher who had emailed. Bit of a shame really, given that he's figured out the true circle of life, has solved parenting despite having zero children, and even thinks he can predict the curriculum of schools in 50 years. Maybe he'll inspire some Year 11s in 2069.
As also seen on Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central, and heard on Radio 4’s The News Quiz.
‘An immaculately crafted set’ ★★★★ London Evening Standard
‘Charismatic, clever and self-aware... destined for great things’ Guardian
‘Sickeningly talented… never more than a few seconds away from another punchline’ ★★★★ Time Out
‘A clever wordsmith with great timing... A cut above.’ ★★★★ Independent
‘James is flip your head back, laugh out loud, clap spontaneously, elbow the stranger next to you, snort uncontrollably and pee your pants funny.’ ★★★★★ EdFestMag
Chris Helme, who first rose to prominence as the front man of John Squire's post-Stone Roses band 'The Seahorses’ began his solo career in 2012.
Still rightfully remembered for the anthemic Britpop classics 'Love Is The Law' and 'Blinded By The Sun' - songs that evoked everything the 90's stood for, the excitement, the culture and the bands that provided a voice in a period of political and social imbalance.
Present day societal context may well in fact mirror those times but the man himself, now, appears cut from an entirely different cloth. Helmes has an enviable back catalogue, bolstered further by his acclaimed works with The Yards, but it's his latest offering The Rookery's knack for melody and imaginative, intricate, three-way guitar interplay that brings each track to such lush, blossoming, climaxes. Add to this Helme's keen ear for arranging and those brooding string passages resonate even more deeply.
Sit back and enjoy a Musical Master at work.

Originally formed in New York, Odyssey were quick to build themselves a reputation as a premier act. Headed up by Steven Collazo, the eldest son of the group’s original founder Lillian Lopez, the group is formed of several talented performers. Sharing the stage with Romina Johnson and Jerdene Wilson, Steven has led the soul singers towards international stardom.
One of the group’s best-loved songs, the iconic Native New Yorker, saw the group achieve widespread success upon its release in 1977. Performing well in the international charts, the track soon made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. The song was later covered by fellow American singer Frankie Valli, garnering the song further attention with the listening public. Not long after, the group achieved further success with the release of their R&B-inspired hit Inside Out, which was featured in music magazine NME’s Tracks of the Year.
Capitalising on the disco band’s increasing momentum, the group went on to release a number of notable albums and singles. During the years that followed, the group produced an array of memorable songs, including Going Back To My Roots, Don’t Tell Me, Tell Her, I Can’t Keep Holding Back My Love, Ever-Lovin' Sam, Magic Touch, When You Love Somebody and It Will Be Alright. Up until 1982, the band released a number of albums with iconic record label RCA Victor.
Although the group was originally based in the United States, Odyssey enjoyed much of their greatest popularity in the United Kingdom. As a result, the group remain vastly popular with British artists and audiences alike. Their song If You’re Looking For a Way Out was covered by the Nottingham-based rock band Tindersticks, featuring on their fourth studio album, Simple Pleasure. Odyssey member Romina Johnson has also collaborated with a number of notable British actsover the years, having featured on The Artful Dodger’s hit single Movin’ Too Fast.
As some of the best-loved soul singers of all time, Odyssey continues to tour music venues across the country. Building further upon their already impressive musical repertoire, the group are the perfect choice for corporate events and a wide array of other occasions.

On February 9th 1961, The Beatles made the first of their 292 appearances at the now legendary Cavern Club in Mathew Street, Liverpool.
50 years on, The Cavern Beatles, a band fully endorsed and licensed by the same club will be coming to a venue near you with their remarkable show.
The show is a Magical History Tour through the works of the greatest pop music phenomenon. Replicating, in both sight and sound, the excitement and energy of Beatlemania, the psychedelic era of Sgt. Pepper, and the creative masterpieces of The White Album and Abbey Road.
Four costume changes and lighting scenes compliment the changes in musical complexity as the show develops to it’s climax.
The band’s cast members, as well as being talented instrumentalists and singers, are hugely dedicated Beatle fans, intent on recreating their individual character on stage. Their uncanny vocal resemblance to the Fab Four is due to their upbringing in the same place…Liverpool.
As ambassadors of “The most famous club in the world”, The Cavern Beatles bring to the stage the music that has now influenced 3 generations.
Their breath-taking attention to detail has drawn the attention of German music companies, Hofner Guitars and Pyramid Strings, both of whom now endorse them with their products.
With their widespread appeal being more apparent than ever in the varying age groups that continue to follow the band, The Cavern Beatles are widely regarded as being as close to the real thing as they are ever likely to get.

THE UK PREMIERE TOUR OF
HELEN FORRESTER’S
BY THE WATERS OF LIVERPOOL
Adapted by ROB FENNAH / Directed by GARETH TUDOR PRICE
FEATURING ASTAR-STUDDED CAST FROM STAGE AND SCREEN
Mark Moraghan, SianReeves, Parry Glasspool, Lucy Dixon & Eric Potts
join Lynn Francis, Danny O'Brien, Roy Carruthers and Chloe McDonald.
Adapted from Helen Forrester’s million-selling book, By The Waters Of Liverpool is a stunning period drama set in the 1930s. The story opens in 1935. Helen is sixteen years old and fighting a bitter battle with her parents for the right to educate herself and go out to work. During the Great Depression, Helen’s father lost his fortune when the stock market crashed and the family were suddenly thrown into poverty. Leaving behind the nannies, servants and comfortable middle-class life in the South West of England, the Forrester’s chose Liverpool as the place to start over. They were in for a terrible shock. Taken out of school to care for her younger brothers and sisters while her parents struggled to re-build their shattered lives, Helen is treated as an unpaid slave and desperate to escape. By 1939, now aged twenty and with Britain on the brink of war, she has still never been kissed by a man. But things start looking up for Helen when she meets a tall strong seaman and falls in love.
“By The Waters Of Liverpool also features flashbacks to Helen’s earlier books Liverpool Miss and Twopence To Cross The Mersey. I’ve even weaved in a storyline from Helen’s fourth autobiography, Lime Street At Two. That way those unfamiliar with Helen’s work still get a complete picture of her life”.
Rob Fennah ~ Playwright and friend of Helen Forrester.

Starting at the Aberdeen Music Hall on Sunday 19th September, the tour will take in a further 21 venues around the country including two nights at the London Palladium, before closing at the Ipswich Regent on 19th October.
The line-up includes powerhouse drummer Bobby Elliott, and singer, songwriter, and lead guitarist Tony Hicks, both of whom are original members of the band. They are joined by lead singer Peter Howarth, as well as bass player Ray Stiles, Keyboardist Ian Parker, and Steve Lauri on Rhythm Guitar.
Celebrated as one of the most influential bands from the 1960s British Invasion era alongside the likes of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, the Hollies have had over 20 world-wide hits, including number one singles in both the US and UK. They have spent an astonishing 263 weeks in the UK top 40 official singles chart, and have been performing continuously since their formation in 1962.

In 1995, they were bestowed the coveted Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution To British Music, and in 2010 were inducted into the American Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame for their ‘impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of Rock and Roll’.

After a number of successful top-twenty singles in the UK, the band went on to score unprecedented international success with the release of the classic ‘Nightbirds” recording and the title track has now become a standard in the popular music repertoire. Because of the nature of their music, their fan base is one that is far reaching while always retaining an ‘underground element’. This paradox sees the band, who are known primarily as serious jazz/funk musicians, enjoying both high ‘cult’ status and instant recognition as a household name.

Despite being an award-winning artist, Bafta-winning TV presenter, Reith Lecturer and bestselling author, Grayson Perry is a normal person – and just like other normal people, he’s marginally aware that we’re all going to die.
Born in Essex in 1960, Grayson has had a career spanning 40 years. From his A House for Essex, a permanent building constructed in the North Essex countryside in 2015, to Grayson Perry’s Big American Road Trip - a three-part documentary travelogue in which he explored the meaning of the American Dream today - and Grayson’s Art Club, which brought the nation together during lockdown through art, making new works and hosting masterclasses, Perry is somewhat an expert in making lemonade out of the mundanity of life.
Let Grayson take you through an enlightening and eye-watering evening in which this kind of existentialism descends from worthiness to silliness. You’ll leave safe and warm in the knowledge that nothing really matters anyway.
Join Grayson as he asks, and possibly answers, these big questions in an evening sure to distract you from the very meaninglessness of life in the way only a man in a dress can.
