Manchester Thinkers and Drinkers Pub Tour
With Suzanne Hindle
The link between pubs and literature is a long-established, much celebrated one. Pubs have traditionally been environments conducive to the culture of writing and ideas, and there’s also an undeniable (sometimes treacherous) link between writing and inspiration for many authors; as James Joyce wrote, ‘
the sacred pint alone can unbind
.’ Join us for this amble through some of the city’s most literary watering holes, during which guide Suzanne Hindle will regale us with stories and snippets of spoken word from writers past and present including a punk poet, a communist thinker, a doomed opium dreamer and a modern Mancunian bard. It’ll be a page turning, thirst quenching tour.
Wednesday 11th October, 6 – 8.30pm
Saturday 14th October, 4 – 6.30pm
