Manchester Radical Literature Walking Tour
With Jonathan Schofield
Manchester has always been as much a concept as a city of people and buildings; an example to be used as a cautionary tale or an example of rebirth. This tour traces the proof of that through the radical tradition in literature, and takes in works from De Quincey, Disraeli, Gaskell, Engels, Marx, Dickens, Brighouse, Mosco, Greenwood, Burgess, Jacobson and many more including poets and essayists. This is a lively, vigorous stroll, by turn moving and amusing, through more than 200 years of the written word.
