The Greater Manchester Tourism Conference 2018The third annual Greater Manchester Tourism Conference, will be held on Tuesday 2 October and is a must for your diary. The full day Conference promises to be one of the highlights of the year for Marketing Manchester members and stakeholders. Last year’s event at Emirates Old Trafford was rated very highly by delegates and we look forward to welcoming you all this year to a brand-new venue, the new Crowne Plaza & Staybridge Suites Manchester – Oxford Road.
We again promise a highly informative, participative and business focused day yet for all members of the tourism industry in Greater Manchester and the North.
The stimulating programme will include a collection of thought-provoking talks, interviews, workshops and presentations from high-profile speakers, looking at current developments and opportunities and the future direction of the sector with relevance for all businesses involved in the visitor economy.
The day will be hosted by Sheona Southern and Nick Brooks-Sykes for Marketing Manchester. Speakers confirmed so far include Sally Balcombe, Chief Executive of VisitBritain, Joanne Roney, Chief Executive of Manchester City Council, and Jayne Worthington Managing Director of The Growth Company – Education and Skills.
Paul Bristow, Director, Strategic Partnerships at Arts Council England will be Chairing a Cultural Tourism panel joined by Dave Moutrey Director and Chief Executive, HOME and Director of Culture Manchester City Council; Helen Palmer Co-Director Creative Tourist & Co-Director Palmer Squared; Sally MacDonald Director, Museum of Science and Industry; and Fiona Gibson Business Director, Octagon Theatre Bolton.
There will also be a choice of workshops including an International distribution workshop with VisitBritain, a workshop looking at opportunities to work with The Factory and a close look at the emerging Business Tourism Strategy with Marketing Manchester.

The format for the day is as follows:
- Arrival from 8.45am with a full day’s programme until 4.30pm.
- The day includes refreshments on arrival, tea and coffee breaks throughout the day plus lunch and a drinks reception at 4.30pm.
- A full programme of high profile and engaging speakers, films, workshops, interviews, Q&A and panel sessions plus taster sessions introducing new tourism product for 2019/2020.
- Networking opportunities throughout the day including the drinks reception to end the day.
- An opportunity to view the new Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites Manchester - Oxford Road which is opening this summer.
