Three friends are getting ready for a night out. The music is intoxicating, they start to
dance. It’s so good, they might stay a little longer…
Inspired by classic sitcoms of the 90s & 00s, DONUTS follows a group of friends as
their friendship evolves over time. DONUTS is a celebration of how music brings
people together, no matter what life throws at them. Bursting with precision and soul,
it is a hypnotic and playful ‘groove along’ to jazz and funk.
Drawing on his own relationship with music and its influence on his friendships
growing up, choreographer Jamaal Burkmar places music at the heart of his
creative process. DONUTS is the first, highly anticipated, full length dance piece
from the company behind JUKEBOX, the breakthrough Instagram series combining
popular music with their distinctive and dynamic style of dance.
If you’ve never read Dickens’ 1859 novel of revolution and excessive gestures of love, then this is the
show for you. If you have read it, this might also be the show for you, depending on how well you
Dickens left a lot out of his novel, particularly when it comes to Lucie, the central female
character. She was underwritten, all her psychological complexity left on the cutting room
floor. This show picks up those offcuts and sticks them together, possibly in the wrong order, to
rediscover the real story of this complex, troubled, funny 21st century woman.
From the creators of Paradise Lost (lies unopened beside me) and Juliet & Romeo, comes a re-staging
of one of the bestselling novels of all time (allegedly). Part dance, part theatre, part fictionalised
documentary, no-part costume drama, this is Lost Dog’s nearly unrecognisable re-imagining of a
Staged in-the-round and featuring nuanced performances and visceral dance that rips across the floor at the audience's feet, The Days engenders a world of ever-shifting negotiations, complex feelings and comic disconnection. Renowned Finnish dancers, Maria Nurmela and Ville Oinonen, are joined by two local performers in an impossible loop of absurd and heartfelt exchanges. Taking the form of a lifetime shared, this is a compelling performance about care, resilience and the desire for connection.

Candoco Dance Company returns to the stage with a double bill from two
boundary-breaking New York based choreographers.
The evening begins with Set and Reset/Reset, a recreation of Trisha Brown
Dance Company’s seminal Set and Reset. The dancers move with dream-like
fluidity within a kaleidoscopic form to a driving Laurie Anderson score in their
unique version of Trisha Brown’s choreography.
In contrast, Jeanine Durning’s Last Shelter unfolds uniquely at each
performance. Teetering at the edge of what could be in an ever-shifting
environment, this choreography highlights the velocity and precision of each
dancer’s decision-making from moment to moment, somewhere between
agency and collective will. After a year of working invisibly through a
pandemic, it is an act of intimacy to witness the labour and desire of the
dancer attending to themselves and one another, in their practice.
Distinct in form, these works share the vitality and virtuosity that promises an
unforgettable double bill from the company that continues to expand
perceptions of what dance can be.
An evening with Rambert is always fun and exhilarating. This brilliant and daring, diverse company of dancers want to invite you to change how you see the world.
