Make your Halloween the best yet with a visit to East Lancashire Railway’s spooktacular seasonal celebration. The halloween activities include a haunted steam train ride with the opportunity to meet friendly ghouls and ghosts!
Join us at for a theatrical evening of spine-chilling tales...IN THE DARK!
As you make your way through the museum by lamp-light your guides will horrify you with tall tales of Ghosts, Witches, Evil Beasties, and all manner of unmentionables from the other side. Stay together, keep heading forward and make it out to recount your own TALE OF TERROR.
Fright at the Museum is a theatrical ghost tour around the Museum recommended for 12+ age group.
The experience will last approx. 60 mins
(Please allow for slight variations in the running time due to screaming and laughter)
Note: Be aware that the event will be in the dark and you will be guided by torch light. There are uneven surfaces so please wear appropriate footwear and follow the instructions from your guide.

You will be accompanied by an expert tutor from our partners North West Photography Courses who will be on hand to help you capture memorable images.
Safety Briefing on the Platform at Bury Station.
Expert guided tour from ELR during the day to answer questions about the engines and history of the railway
Special access permitted on the side of the tracks and Sheds whilst final preparations are being made.
One return ticket.
A light lunch voucher provided during the day – can be redeem at our Buffet on Platform 3/4.

Upon arrival, admire the beautifully dressed Bury Bolton Street Station with its many Christmas trees and decorations. Take a steam train ride to Rawtenstall and back through the Irwell Valley - journey time approximately 80 minutes Immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere with a beautifully decorated train interior Meet Santa and his elves as they provide a gift to every child Receive an activity pack for children and a mince pie and festive tipple for grown ups.
