PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING – SANTA AT THE STATION
Some tickets for our early December Santa experience may become available by returns from customers no longer able to visit due to coronavirus restrictions. Join us for Santa at the Station and enjoy a FREE train ride next year on us!
You’ll be met by our elves who’ll first take you to meet our gorgeous Christmas donkeys with their festive hats on. Then, you’ll enjoy a mince pies or festive biscuit as you wait your turn to meet Santa himself. He’s looking forward to meeting you and your family group and you’ll spend a few minutes with him as he talks to the children and gives out presents. You’ll also be able to take photos as a memory of the occasion.
Santa’s presents will be an Avon Valley Railway teddy bear for all children aged 1 – 7 with others suitable for infants and those boys and girls aged 8+. We’re keeping it simple to avoid excessive handling of the presents.
Following your visit we’ll then send you a voucher that you can redeem against a FREE train ride for everyone in your group at some point during our 2021 season (April to September). Come back and enjoy a trip onboard one of our steam or diesel trains, you’ll just need to pre-book your seats once we release our 2021 timetable.
We’re really grateful for all the words of support and encouragement we’ve had from our customers in the last week or so, it means so much to our staff and volunteers. In return, we’ll do all we can to make this family time really special for you all this year when you visit. We appreciate it’s been difficult for us all and hope we can spread a bit of festive cheer!
Once you’ve booked, simply arrive at Bitton Station within 30 minutes of the time stated on your ticket. So, if your ticket was for 10:15am just arrive any time between then and 10:45am and so on. That way we can easily manage social distancing and keep the family groups apart. Don’t forget to wrap up warm, it is December after all!
We look forward to seeing you, and thank you for your support.
HOW TO BOOK
Advanced booking is essential for this event. Simply select the date and time of your choice. You’ll then see a graphical layout of a railway carriage as we’d originally hoped to offer train rides at Christmas, but the new restrictions just don’t make this possible. In order for the booking system to know who’s coming you’ll need to choose a ‘carriage’ and the seats you would like from those that are available. As soon as you select one seat, all eight seats in the compartment (or the table opposite in the case of Coach D) will become selected. Choose the ticket types you need and ‘seat not required’ for any remaining tickets. Then just login or create a customer account and follow the instructions to pay for the tickets as you would any other online purchase.
Just remember, for the period Sat 5, Sun 6, Mon 7, Sat 12 & Sun 13 December you wont receive a train ride at Christmas, you’ll get a FREE ticket to enjoy a ride next summer.
Please note, this only applies to dates up to and including the 13th December. We hope to run trains beyond that date subject to the Government's fortnightly review.
Please Note: Gallery Visits are limited to 1hr (Except at 3pm where the visit is limited to 30mins)
Days Like These is a new exhibition which shares the stories of Salford in 2020, using paintings, photographs, films and poetry contributed by some of the 245,000 residents of the city - from empty Salford streets and the joy of reuniting, to the impact on frontline workers and the challenges of being alone. The exhibition wants to reflect the hopes and fears of everyone, then and now, and after you have seen the exhibition, we hope you contribute too.
Alongside is a new display of the best of Salford’s own LS Lowry – an artist known for his paintings of crowded city streets, and vast empty landscapes.
Together they open from 1 November 2020.
The exhibition forms part of the Spirit of Salford initiative – a scheme designed to celebrate the unique personality and pioneering spirit of Salford.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without a festive edition of your favourite Holbeck- based interactive gameshow. And here it comes!
We’ve put the decorations up, the band have been practicing Driving Home for Christmas for months and we’ve ironed the creases out of our Christmas jumpers!
And yet Alan isn’t quite feeling it. It’s been a long year and it’s taken its toll on his festive cheer. But the Voice of God has a plan to bring the Christmas spirit back to The Holbeck with a bang!
You Can Bet It’s Christmas will be broadcast LIVE on Slung Low’s Facebook Page and YouTube.
18:00 on the 23rd December
But you can be there live as part of the show! We need to cast the crowd for this live broadcast from the car park of The Holbeck! And we want you!
What does it mean to play the role of the crowd in the show?
You sign up for a slot just like you would if you were booking a ticket to see the show.
Then we email you instructions nearer the time about what you should wear (warm, waterproof clothing) and send you some responses we might want you to practice before you come on down (I say Merry you say Christmas).
No one will have to get on the stage at any time. Covid rules wouldn’t allow it even if you wanted to! You’ll be asked to come along at 17:45 on 23rd December and play the role of crowd for the broadcast. The show will last approximately 75 minutes.

The street immediately around the club is permit-holders only but there’s permit free parking on Holbeck Moor Road, which is the road that runs alongside the park just down the road.
Join us after Christmas for a trip onboard one of our steam-hauled trains and enjoy a mince pie served onboard as you travel the line.
To keep our customers safe, each family group will be seated in separate compartments.
Please select a carriage and then click on an available compartment. Choose your first seat and you'll then notice that all the remaining seats in that compartment become highlighted, so that no one else can book them.
