Avon Valley Railway - Standard Tickets

To keep our customers safe, each family group will be seated in separate compartments.

Please select a carriage and then click on an available compartment.

Choose your first seat and you'll then notice that all the remaining seats in that compartment become highlighted, so that no one else can book them.

Then, just choose the different tickets you need for each of your group from the drop down lists.

For any spare seats simply choose the option 'seat not required'

Please note that we operate our heritage diesel trains on Saturdays and Steam on Sundays.

Driver Experience - Steam

Under expert tuition you’ll be given an introduction to one of our steam locomotives together with a safety briefing before taking to the footplate to learn the skills involved.  Then, you’ll take the controls and drive and fire the locomotive yourself.

To maintain social distancing this will now be on an exclusive basis with just one participant on the footplate at any one time.  You’ll drive for one round trip of the line (six miles), taking approximately one hour.

At the end of your time with us you’ll receive a commemorative certificate and gift pack of information about the railway.  You’ll also receive a year’s membership to the Avon Valley Railway.

Teddy Bears Picnic

Children travel free on this special weekend if they bring their teddy bear!  Bring them along, and the rest of the family, for a great day out.

You’ll need to reserve your seats on a specific train and time.  We’re still planning on seating family groups of bubbles in separate compartments or tables away from other passengers to help keep everyone safe.  Once onboard you’ll enjoy a 50 minute ride on one of our steam-hauled trains.

There will be hand sanitiser available when you arrive as well as onboard the train, and our volunteers will be cleaning the train between journeys too (we’ve increased the gap between train times to help us achieve this safely).

Before or after your train ride you’ll be able to enjoy face painting, balloon modelling and family entertainment on Bitton Station.  More details will be announced as restrictions are eased and it’s clearer which activities are possible.  But, most importantly of all, you’ll have a great time with us!
