A digital & physical circus-theatre experience for 2-6 year olds and their families.
Some might be Plink and others are Boo
Why does it matter, what’s the to-do?
Jumbled up people and boxes too small;
Let’s make a den and discover it all…
Welcome to the topsy turvy world of Play-Along Plink and Boo, a unique circus theatre performance made for camera. Join us from the comfort of your own home as we explore what happens when people don’t fit into boxes (even if it is the neatest place to put them).
This show combines watching a filmed performance with playing along with real objects in your own homes. The objects are the same as the ones you’ll see in the show. You can download an activity pack or watch this instruction video that shows you how to make these objects, using things you can find round the house.
Before you watch Play-Along Plink and Boo, we recommend getting ready by building a theatre den in your front room! In this video, Thea, the youngest member of Can't Sit Still, shows you how to do just that.
As parents ourselves, we appreciate that anyone looking after children is likely to be busy! If you don’t have time to do all this before the show, don’t worry. You can still enjoy the experience without the props or den.
*As this is an online event, please ensure that you supply a valid email address at the time of booking.
Suggested duration of visit: 1 hour. Please note: The galleries close at 3.30pm. As such, visitors should only book the 3pm timed-entry if they are happy to experience the exhibition in a reduced 30 minute session. Thank you.
Days Like These is a new exhibition which shares the stories of Salford in 2020, using paintings, photographs, films and poetry contributed by some of the 245,000 residents of the city - from empty Salford streets and the joy of reuniting, to the impact on frontline workers and the challenges of being alone. The exhibition wants to reflect the hopes and fears of everyone, then and now, and after you have seen the exhibition, we hope you contribute too.
Alongside is a new display of the best of Salford’s own LS Lowry – an artist known for his paintings of crowded city streets, and vast empty landscapes.
The exhibition forms part of the Spirit of Salford initiative – a scheme designed to celebrate the unique personality and pioneering spirit of Salford.

Less tribute and more homage, Nearly Dan is saviour to the growing legions of Dan fans, desperate to hear the meticulously crafted grooves and allusive lyrical style of Donald Fagen & Walter Becker. Nearly Dan’s approach is faithful, though not reverential, and relaxed but as tight as their namesakes. They bring their own unique spirit and spontaneous humour to every concert.
It’s been over 40 years since the release of the first Steely Dan album “Can’t buy a Thrill”, featuring the hits “Do it Again” and “Reelin’ in the years.”
After a sell out show in early 2020, this is a must see performance.

Johnny’s big break came in late 1966 when he recorded a song called Mursheen Durkin, an old ballad from the west of Ireland. It topped the charts at Number 1 for three consecutive weeks. It was followed up by The Boston Burglar which also reached Number 1.
His first tour of the United States was in 67. It involved 7 weeks of concerts during that hot summer of Hippies, Protests and Vietnam. One of the many famous venues he played was the “Hungry Eye” in San Francisco. However, his favourite was the famous “Carnegie Hall” in New York. It was at this stage in his career he had his third Number 1 hit with the song Nora from Sean O’Casey’s famous play “The Plough and the Stars”
On a golden August afternoon while sitting on a stone in the sun outside a pub in Co. Sligo came the inspiration to write his first song Long, long before your time. It too reached Number 1.
Many of his songs have become standards and been recorded by many other singers.

John O'Connell’s Simply Dylan Band will be back in 2021 for a brand-new headline tour across the UK to celebrate Bob Dylan’s 80th Birthday.
As straightforward as the title suggests: no frills, no gimmicks, no pretense; Simply Dylan is John’s personal exploration and celebration of the rich and diverse work of Bob Dylan.
O'Connell, formerly of Groundpig, has had his name indelibly written into the tapestry of Liverpool's music scene, has collaborated with other highly reputable musicians to form his Dylan Band.
The combination of the band delivering high energy renditions of the prodigious songwriter’s work and John skillfully singing and enunciating the lyrics,
has seen the project go from recognising Dylan's 70th Birthday, to selling out the Cavern Club 6 times, to receiving fantastic reviews from audiences across
the UK and most recently having the privilege to open up the Isle of Wight Festival in 2019 on the big top stage.
“It is incredible to consider that Dylan has been writing and performing for some 6 decades and continues to do so right up to the present day.
The talent he has for story-telling and developing a song is extraordinary. My greatest challenge is deciphering a set-list when there is so much choice and an array
of genres to select from; after all everyone has their own personal favourite!”
John O’Connell
Roy Grace is back as the thrilling work of multi-million No.1 best-selling author Peter James comes to The Lowry with the world premiere stage production of Looking Good Dead.
No good deed goes unpunished…hours after picking up a USB memory stick, left behind on a train seat, to try to return it to its owner, Tom Bryce inadvertently becomes a witness to a vicious murder. Reporting the crime to the police has disastrous consequences, placing him and his family in grave danger. When Detective Superintendent Roy Grace becomes involved, he has his own demons to contend with, while he tries to crack the case in time to save the Bryce family’s lives.
From the producer of recent Lowry stage hits, Band of Gold and The Girl On The Train and adapted by award winning writer Shaun McKenna, Looking Good Dead will keep you on the edge of your seat until the chilling final moments!
Don't miss your chance to see the world premiere tour of Peter James' gripping new play.
Chris Helme, who first rose to prominence as the front man of John Squire's post-Stone Roses band 'The Seahorses’ began his solo career in 2012.
Still rightfully remembered for the anthemic Britpop classics 'Love Is The Law' and 'Blinded By The Sun' - songs that evoked everything the 90's stood for, the excitement, the culture and the bands that provided a voice in a period of political and social imbalance.
Present day societal context may well in fact mirror those times but the man himself, now, appears cut from an entirely different cloth. Helmes has an enviable back catalogue, bolstered further by his acclaimed works with The Yards, but it's his latest offering The Rookery's knack for melody and imaginative, intricate, three-way guitar interplay that brings each track to such lush, blossoming, climaxes. Add to this Helme's keen ear for arranging and those brooding string passages resonate even more deeply.
Sit back and enjoy a Musical Master at work.

“A breathtaking acoustic fusion of blues, jazz, classical and Spanish guitar from a stunning guitar virtuoso…” Altadena News, USA”
Ready for a unique and talented take on a wide range of musical traditions? Claude Bourbon is known throughout Europe and America for amazing guitar performances that take blues, Spanish, and Middle Eastern stylings into uncharted territories.
Claude’s inimitable style incorporates all five digits on each hand dancing independently but in unison, plucking, picking and strumming at such speed and precision that his fingers often seem to melt into a blur. Thousands of people in the UK, Europe and USA have enjoyed listening to this virtuoso and for the majority of his audience it is an experience that compels them to return again and again to hear and watch him play, as his fingers lightly dance over the strings of his guitar and create a unique sound that is ’Claude’.
Now based in the UK, some of this guitarists’ influences allow us a fascinating insight into this remarkable musician; Paco De Lucia: Deep Purple’s Richie Blackmore; Joaquin Rodrigo; JJ Cale; JS Bach….
Claude has played countless venues, including Glastonbury Festival, Isle of Wight Festival, Colne Great British & Blues Festival, Rock O'Z Arene, Avenches, Switzerland, among others. Originally formed in New York, Odyssey were quick to build themselves a reputation as a premier act. Headed up by Steven Collazo, the eldest son of the group’s original founder Lillian Lopez, the group is formed of several talented performers. Sharing the stage with Romina Johnson and Jerdene Wilson, Steven has led the soul singers towards international stardom.
One of the group’s best-loved songs, the iconic Native New Yorker, saw the group achieve widespread success upon its release in 1977. Performing well in the international charts, the track soon made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. The song was later covered by fellow American singer Frankie Valli, garnering the song further attention with the listening public. Not long after, the group achieved further success with the release of their R&B-inspired hit Inside Out, which was featured in music magazine NME’s Tracks of the Year.
Capitalising on the disco band’s increasing momentum, the group went on to release a number of notable albums and singles. During the years that followed, the group produced an array of memorable songs, including Going Back To My Roots, Don’t Tell Me, Tell Her, I Can’t Keep Holding Back My Love, Ever-Lovin' Sam, Magic Touch, When You Love Somebody and It Will Be Alright. Up until 1982, the band released a number of albums with iconic record label RCA Victor.
Although the group was originally based in the United States, Odyssey enjoyed much of their greatest popularity in the United Kingdom. As a result, the group remain vastly popular with British artists and audiences alike. Their song If You’re Looking For a Way Out was covered by the Nottingham-based rock band Tindersticks, featuring on their fourth studio album, Simple Pleasure. Odyssey member Romina Johnson has also collaborated with a number of notable British actsover the years, having featured on The Artful Dodger’s hit single Movin’ Too Fast.
As some of the best-loved soul singers of all time, Odyssey continues to tour music venues across the country. Building further upon their already impressive musical repertoire, the group are the perfect choice for corporate events and a wide array of other occasions.

THE UK PREMIERE TOUR OF
HELEN FORRESTER’S
BY THE WATERS OF LIVERPOOL
Adapted by ROB FENNAH / Directed by GARETH TUDOR PRICE
FEATURING ASTAR-STUDDED CAST FROM STAGE AND SCREEN
Mark Moraghan, SianReeves, Parry Glasspool, Lucy Dixon & Eric Potts
join Lynn Francis, Danny O'Brien, Roy Carruthers and Chloe McDonald.
Adapted from Helen Forrester’s million-selling book, By The Waters Of Liverpool is a stunning period drama set in the 1930s. The story opens in 1935. Helen is sixteen years old and fighting a bitter battle with her parents for the right to educate herself and go out to work. During the Great Depression, Helen’s father lost his fortune when the stock market crashed and the family were suddenly thrown into poverty. Leaving behind the nannies, servants and comfortable middle-class life in the South West of England, the Forrester’s chose Liverpool as the place to start over. They were in for a terrible shock. Taken out of school to care for her younger brothers and sisters while her parents struggled to re-build their shattered lives, Helen is treated as an unpaid slave and desperate to escape. By 1939, now aged twenty and with Britain on the brink of war, she has still never been kissed by a man. But things start looking up for Helen when she meets a tall strong seaman and falls in love.
“By The Waters Of Liverpool also features flashbacks to Helen’s earlier books Liverpool Miss and Twopence To Cross The Mersey. I’ve even weaved in a storyline from Helen’s fourth autobiography, Lime Street At Two. That way those unfamiliar with Helen’s work still get a complete picture of her life”.
Rob Fennah ~ Playwright and friend of Helen Forrester.

After a number of successful top-twenty singles in the UK, the band went on to score unprecedented international success with the release of the classic ‘Nightbirds” recording and the title track has now become a standard in the popular music repertoire. Because of the nature of their music, their fan base is one that is far reaching while always retaining an ‘underground element’. This paradox sees the band, who are known primarily as serious jazz/funk musicians, enjoying both high ‘cult’ status and instant recognition as a household name.
