Ghost Dances and other works
Christopher Bruce’s masterpiece, Ghost Dances, is possibly the most popular work in Rambert’s history. It tells stories of love and compassion, as death – in the form of the iconic “ghost dancers” – interrupts the daily lives of a series of ordinary people. Created as a response to political oppression in South America, it uses imagery from the Day of the Dead and bewitching traditional music to create a moving, intensely human work.
“Exhilarating and poignant” The Sunday Times
Ghost Dances is presented in a triple bill, which also features Transfigured Night, created by two-time Olivier Award-winning choreographer Kim Brandstrup. This dramatic love story is told through intimate duets and spectacular ensemble dancing, amplifying the beauty and romance of the Schoenberg score.
A new work by Andonis Foniadakis, Artistic Director of Greek National Opera Ballet, completes a programme showcasing the dynamism and virtuosity of Britain’s national dance company.
