Celebrating the singers of the department unite to sing Stravinsky’s Mass. The concert celebrates much of the vocal music taking part in the society and includes highlights of the newly created Barbershop Chorus.

19.30 ESTIVAL: Ad Solem, The University of Manchester Chamber Choir

Sacred works by Sheremetiev, Gretchaninov and Kalinnikov, and excerpts from Rachmaninov’s ‘All Night Vigil’, are contrasted alongside more recent works by more familiar composers. After a very successful year for the Choir, their venture into the Russian choral repertoire is one which can surely not be missed.

Beat The Rush Hour Concert

Through jazz, tangos, marches and waltzes, we tell an old Russian Fairy tale. This dark Faustian fable about a deserting soldier and the Devil who eventually possesses his soul is set to music by Stravinsky. The soldier's violin becomes a symbol of both the soldier's soul and the Devil's wiles.

MUWO - Finishing their season of Picture Postcards, the Manchester University Wind Orchestra transports you to Russian for the final leg of their journey.
