Clock Tower Tours
at Manchester Town Hall
Tickets for New Manchester Walks Clock Tower Guided Tours at Manchester Town HallTour the Clock Tower of Manchester Town Hall* with New Manchester Walks.
We are running tours of this famous landmark on a trip that takes you to the top of Manchester Town Hall, then higher still, up 173 spiral steps that stretch around the famous clock tower.
We enter rooms inside this magical world to see the huge mechanism whirring round, to stand behind the giant clock faces, to roam around the open-air parapet (with the best and highest outside views in Manchester) and to hover under the 8-ton bell – Great Abel itself – possibly while the hammer is smashing against the gunmetal to set all your senses off into a frenzy.
But we do more than simply climb and clamber around the bits of clock. This is a tour into the very notion of time.
L. S. Lowry painted it, Alfred Waterhouse designed it, Great Abel hangs from it and now you will be able to go up the Clock Tower at Manchester Town Hall.
Please Note - This event is suitable for ages 12+. The event contains lots of stairs, small rooms, high places and very loud bells. Unsuitable for those with breathing and walking difficulties.
*Meeting Point - Manchester Town Hall, Lloyd Street entrance. Meet 10 minutes before tour.
